Accessing Content by Course ID

Accessing Content by Course ID

Overview

Sometimes you may need to access e-learning content using a Course ID rather than a title—especially when troubleshooting or working with content that hasn't been properly titled. This guide explains how to locate and access content using its unique identifier.

Functionality Breakdown

What Is a Course ID?

Every piece of content in Learn Amp has a unique identifier (ID). This ID is useful when:

  • The content title is missing or unclear

  • You're troubleshooting specific content issues

  • You need to reference content precisely in support requests

  • Working with imported content that hasn't been fully configured

Where to Find Course IDs

Course IDs can be found:

  • In the URL when viewing content (e.g., /items/12345)

  • In CSV exports of content data

  • In activity logs and reports

  • Through the platform's API

Quick Start Guide

Accessing Content by ID via URL

  1. Log into Learn Amp

  2. In your browser's address bar, construct the URL using the pattern:

    • For Items: https://[your-company].learnamp.com/items/[ID]

    • For Learnlists: https://[your-company].learnamp.com/learnlists/[ID]

  3. Press Enter to navigate to the content

Finding Content ID from Reports

  1. Export the relevant content report (e.g., Content CSV)

  2. Open the CSV file

  3. Look for the ID column

  4. Use the ID to construct the URL as shown above

Finding Content by ID in Manage Area

As an administrator:

  1. Navigate to Content > Manage > Items (or relevant content type)

  2. Use the search function with the ID number

  3. The content should appear in the results if it exists

FAQs

Q: Why would content have no title?
This can happen with imported content where metadata wasn't fully transferred, or content that was created but not properly configured.

Q: Can I search directly by Course ID?
In most cases, you'll need to construct the URL manually. The search function primarily uses titles and descriptions.

Q: The ID doesn't work—what should I do?
The content may have been deleted, or the ID may be from a different system. Contact Learn Amp support with the ID for assistance.
