Creating a Scoring Rubric
Overview
Creating a Scoring Rubric in Learn Amp enables structured, fair, and repeatable grading for qualitative assessments. This is especially helpful when evaluating open-ended tasks like written responses or video uploads.
Scoring Rubrics support better consistency across reviewers and give learners clearer insight into how their work will be judged.
Functionality Breakdown
Rubrics are created using a guided builder, where Admins or Content Creators:
Define what is being assessed
Set quality levels for performance (e.g. Excellent, Good, Poor)
Describe each level clearly
Choose how scoring is calculated (manual or automatic)
Configure visibility and notifications
There are two main ways to start building a scoring rubric: via the Assess area or the Add New menu.
Pre-requisites
To create a Scoring Rubric, you must:
Have one of the following roles:
Owner – Full access within their company
Admin – Administrative access within their company
Learning Designer – Can create and manage learning content
Curator – Can curate and manage content
Additional permissions:
Viewing Scoring Rubrics: All roles above, plus Reporter (with Scores feature enabled)
Deleting Scoring Rubrics: Only Super Admin, Owner, or Admin
Tip: Before creating a rubric, have your criteria and scoring approach ready—this makes the setup much smoother.
