Using Survey Templates
Overview
Survey Templates provide a quick way to create new Surveys using pre-built structures. Learn Amp offers both preset templates (available to all organisations) and the ability to create your own company-specific templates.
This article explains how to browse, preview, and use Survey Templates to speed up your Survey creation process.

Select Convert to template
The Survey will be converted to a company template

FAQs
Can I modify a preset template?
You cannot edit the preset templates directly, but when you create a Survey from one, you can fully customise it before issuing.
Who can see company templates?
Company templates are visible to all users who have permission to create Surveys within your organisation.
Can I convert an existing Survey into a template?
Yes. Open the Survey, select the actions menu (⋯), and choose Convert to template. The Survey will be converted to a company template with all its questions and settings.
What happens to the original Survey when I convert it?
The original Survey remains unchanged. Converting creates a new template based on the Survey, but doesn't modify the Survey itself.
Can I convert a Survey that has responses?
Yes. Responses aren't included in the template, so you can convert any Survey regardless of whether it has been completed.
What happens if I archive a template?
Archived templates are hidden from the selection list but can be restored. Surveys already created from that template are not affected.
Can I convert a template back to a Survey?
No, but you can create a new Survey from the template, which achieves the same result.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Can't see the Templates option | Ensure you have Survey creation permissions and that Surveys are enabled for your company. |
Company templates tab is empty | No custom templates have been created yet. Create one or use preset templates. |
Template questions aren't editable | Templates define the starting structure. Create a Survey from the template to customise questions. |
Need to update a published template | Edit the template – changes apply to new Surveys created from it, not existing ones. |
Convert to template option not visible | Ensure you have Owner, Admin, Learning Designer, or Curator permissions. |
Template missing questions after conversion | Verify the Survey has valid questions. Invalid questions may not convert properly. |
