Archiving and Unarchiving Scoring Rubrics
Overview
Archiving allows you to remove Scoring Rubrics from active use without permanently deleting them. This is useful when a rubric is no longer needed but you want to retain the historical data for reporting purposes.
Archived rubrics can be restored (unarchived) at any time if needed again.
Functionality Breakdown
When you archive a Scoring Rubric:
The rubric is removed from the main Scoring Rubrics list
It appears in the Archived view instead
All existing user scores and submissions are preserved
The rubric is unlinked from all exercises it was attached to
The rubric cannot be used for new scoring until unarchived
When you unarchive a Scoring Rubric:
The rubric returns to the main Scoring Rubrics list
You can link it to exercises again
Historical scores remain intact
Important: Archiving a rubric will disconnect it from any exercises it's currently linked to. You'll need to re-link the rubric to exercises after unarchiving if you want to use it again.

To archive or unarchive a Scoring Rubric, you must have one of the following roles:

Note: Learning Designers and Curators can create and edit rubrics but cannot archive or unarchive them.

FAQs
Q: What happens to existing scores when I archive a rubric?
All existing user scores and submissions are preserved. Archiving only affects whether the rubric can be used for new scoring.
Q: Can I still view reports for archived rubrics?
Yes. You can access historical reports and scores for archived rubrics from the Archived view.
Q: What happens to exercises linked to the rubric when I archive it?
The rubric will be unlinked from all exercises. Those exercises will no longer have a scoring rubric attached until you link a different rubric or unarchive and re-link this one.
Q: Can I permanently delete a rubric instead of archiving?
Yes, but deletion is permanent and removes all associated data. Archiving is recommended if you may need the rubric or its data in the future.
Q: Why can't I see the archive option?
Only Owners and Admins can archive rubrics. If you have a different role, contact your administrator.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Archive option not visible | Ensure you have Owner or Admin role. |
Can't find archived rubric | Check you're viewing the Archived filter/tab in the Scoring Rubrics area. |
Unarchived rubric not working with exercises | After unarchiving, you need to manually re-link the rubric to exercises. |
Scores missing after archive | Scores are preserved—check the archived rubric's report view. |
