Overview
Engagement Data widgets reveal how users interact with your platform. From session lengths to activity patterns, these widgets help you understand adoption, identify engagement trends, and make data-driven decisions about your learning strategy.
This category also includes Advanced Analytics widgets (Learn Amp Insights), which allow you to add custom reports from the analytics tool directly to your Dashboard.

Advanced Analytics Widgets (Learn Amp Insights)
Advanced Analytics widgets let you take custom reports created in the analytics tool and display them directly on your Dashboard. This brings powerful, tailored insights right to where your users need them.
Creating a New Insight
From the sidebar, click Reporting
Select the Advanced Analytics tile
The insight editor opens—create your custom visualisation
Click Save when you're happy with your insight
A modal appears with two options:
Save to dashboard – Choose a dashboard, give the widget a name, and add it directly
Save as report – Set visibility (just you or everyone) and save for later use
Your insight is now available in the "Custom Insights" section of the Widget Catalogue
Adding an Existing Insight to a Dashboard
Navigate to your Dashboard from the sidebar
Click Add Widget beneath the banner
Look for Learn Amp Insights in the Engagement Data category, or search for "Custom Insights"
Browse or search your saved insights
Select the insight you want to add
Configure date filters if needed
Click Add Widget
💡 Tip: When you save an insight from the editor, it automatically appears in the Widget Catalogue. You can add the same insight to multiple dashboards.
Date Filter Options
Advanced Analytics widgets support flexible date filtering:

⚠️ Important: Advanced Analytics widgets update once every 1-2 hours, unlike standard widgets which update in real time.

Adding a Standard Widget
Navigate to your Dashboard from the sidebar
Click Add Widget beneath the banner
Select the Engagement Data category
Choose your desired widget
Configure time period and user filters
Click Add Widget
Adding an Advanced Analytics Widget
Option 1: Create a new insight
From the sidebar, click Reporting
Select Advanced Analytics
Create your insight in the editor
Save and choose Save to dashboard
Select your dashboard and click Save
Option 2: Add an existing insight
Navigate to your Dashboard from the sidebar
Click Add Widget
Find Learn Amp Insights or search for "Custom Insights"
Select your saved insight
Configure date filters if needed
Click Add Widget

Q: How often do Engagement Data widgets update?
Standard in-app widgets update in real time. Advanced Analytics (Learn Amp Insights) widgets update once daily.
Q: Can I filter engagement data by team or group?
Yes—most Engagement Data widgets support user filters allowing you to focus on specific teams, groups, or individuals.
Q: What counts as a "session"?
A session is a period of continuous activity on the platform. Sessions end after a period of inactivity.
Q: Why is Learner Added Items empty?
This widget requires the "Users Add Items" feature to be enabled, and users need to have added content themselves.
Q: What time periods can I select for Sessions Over Time?
You can choose from 30, 60, or 90 days to view activity trends.
Q: Why can't I see Advanced Analytics in the Reporting area?
Advanced Analytics must be enabled for your organisation. Contact your administrator or success@learnamp.com if you believe this should be available.
Q: Why can't I see Learn Amp Insights in the widget picker?
Insights need to be created first using the Advanced Analytics editor. Go to Reporting → Advanced Analytics to create your first insight.
Q: Can I add the same insight to multiple dashboards?
Yes—once an insight is saved, you can add it as a widget to any dashboard you have edit access to.
Q: Who can see insights I create?
When saving an insight as a report, you can choose visibility: "Just me" keeps it private, "Everyone" makes it visible to all users with access to the Widget Catalogue.
