CPD Points

CPD Points

Overview

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points allow you to assign learning value to Items for tracking professional development requirements. When learners complete Items with CPD points, their progress is automatically recorded against CPD targets, helping organisations manage compliance with professional development obligations.

CPD tracking is essential for industries with mandatory professional development requirements, such as healthcare, finance, legal, and education sectors.

Functionality Breakdown

How CPD Points Work

  1. Assign points – Add CPD point values to Items

  2. Classify learning – Mark learning as formal or informal

  3. Track completion – Points are awarded when learners complete Items

  4. Monitor progress – View CPD progress against targets

Formal vs Informal Learning

CPD points are classified into two categories:

  • Formal learning – Structured learning activities such as courses, certifications, or accredited training

  • Informal learning – Self-directed learning such as reading articles, watching videos, or attending webinars

Many professional bodies require a mix of formal and informal CPD hours.

CPD Strategies

Organisations can define CPD strategies that set:

  • Target points – Total CPD points required per period

  • Formal/Informal split – Minimum requirements for each category

  • Timeframes – Annual or custom periods for CPD cycles

  • Assignments – Which users or teams the strategy applies to
