Content Creation and Search Agents (Open Beta)
Volt's content creation and search agents are a suite of AI-powered tools that help you create, update, and find learning content — all from a natural language conversation. These features are currently in Open Beta, available to all customers with Volt enabled.
Overview
The Open Beta features bring AI-assisted content creation and search to your Learn Amp platform. From generating a full learnlist in seconds to searching your content library or the wider web, these agents save you time and help you build better learning experiences.
To access these features, an Admin or Owner must enable the beta feature and then enable individual agents from Company Settings → AI Features. Individual agents can be toggled on or off to suit your organisation's needs.
💡 These features are in Open Beta — they're available to all customers and we actively encourage feedback to help us improve them. You can provide feedback directly from within Volt using the thumbs up/down buttons on any response.
Functionality Breakdown
The Open Beta includes the following agents:
Content Creation:
Learnlist Creator — Generate structured learning paths from a natural language prompt
Learnlist Supplementer — Suggest additional content to enrich an existing learnlist
Learnlist Updater — Update an existing learnlist using natural language instructions
Quiz Creator — Generate quizzes from content sources
Quiz Updater — Update existing quizzes using natural language instructions
Survey Creator — Generates surveys from a natural language description, including opinion scale, multiple choice, and free text questions
Item Creator — Create learning items using your platform's item framework
Item Updater — Update existing items using natural language instructions
Exercise Creator — Create exercises within items
Exercise Updater — Update existing exercises using natural language instructions
Exercise Remover — Remove exercises from items
Channel Creator — Build curated channels from your content library
Content Discovery:
Content Search — Search your indexed content library to find relevant learning resources
Web Search — Search the web for up-to-date information to support content creation
File Upload — Upload a PDF, DOCX, or PPTX file as source material for content creation
Pre-requisites
Volt must be enabled from Company Settings → AI Features
Individual agents must be toggled on from the AI Features settings page
For Content Search: your content library must be indexed (see Content Indexing for AI Search)
For File Upload: files must be in PDF, DOCX, or PPTX format
For Survey Creator — Surveys must be enabled on your Learn Amp platform.

Quick Start Guide
From the sidebar, select Settings, then AI Features
Ensure Volt AI Assistants is toggled on
Review the agent toggles and enable the Open Beta agents you'd like to use
If you plan to use Content Search, select Index content to index your company's content library
Open the Volt panel from the sidebar
Start a conversation — for example, "Create a learnlist on leadership skills for new managers", "Search our content library for anything on data privacy", or "Create a survey about onboarding feedback with 5 Likert-scale questions"
💡 You can combine agents in a single conversation — for example, create a learnlist and then ask Volt to update it or add more content straight away.
FAQs
Q: How do I know which agents are active for my organisation?
Go to Company Settings → AI Features to see which agents are currently enabled. Admins and Owners can toggle agents on or off at any time.
Q: Do I need to index our content before using these features?
For Content Search and any agent that draws on your content library, yes — you'll need to trigger a content index from the AI Features settings page. A banner will appear in the settings to prompt you if indexing hasn't been done yet.
Q: What file types can I upload?
File Upload supports PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files. Uploaded files can be used as source material when creating or updating content.
Q: How do I provide feedback on Open Beta features?
Use the thumbs up or thumbs down on any Volt response to rate it. You can also leave written feedback. See Providing Feedback on Volt Responses for more detail.
Q: Will these features eventually become fully live?
Open Beta features move to GA as they're refined and ready for full release. We'll update the KB and notify customers when this happens.
Troubleshooting
