Progress and Completion Tracking
Overview
When learners complete Pluralsight courses, their progress automatically syncs back to Learn Amp. This means you get a unified view of all learning activity – whether content is consumed on Learn Amp or Pluralsight.
The integration tracks both course starts and completions, giving you full visibility into your team's learning journey.
Functionality Breakdown
What Gets Tracked
Activity | When It's Recorded |
|---|---|
Course started | When a learner begins any progress on a Pluralsight course |
Course completed | When a learner finishes 100% of a Pluralsight course |
How Syncing Works
Learner accesses course: When a learner clicks on a Pluralsight item in Learn Amp, they're taken to Pluralsight to complete the content
Progress recorded in Pluralsight: Pluralsight tracks their viewing progress and completion status
Automatic sync: Learn Amp regularly queries Pluralsight for activity updates
Activities created: Started and completed activities appear on the learner's profile and in reports
💡 Tip: Activities are backdated to when they actually occurred in Pluralsight, not when the sync happened. This keeps your reporting accurate.
Prerequisites
Role Requirements
Progress tracking works automatically for all learners. No specific role is required – as long as the prerequisites below are met.
Critical Requirement: Email Matching
⚠️ Warning: For progress tracking to work, learners must have identical email addresses in both Learn Amp and Pluralsight.
Learn Amp Email | Pluralsight Email | Will Sync? |
|---|---|---|
✅ Yes | ||
❌ No | ||
✅ Yes (case-insensitive) |
If emails don't match, Learn Amp cannot link the Pluralsight activity to the correct user.
Additional Requirements
The Pluralsight course must be imported into Learn Amp's library
The Pluralsight integration must be active
The learner must access the course (starting progress in Pluralsight)
Quick Start Guide
For Administrators: Ensuring Successful Tracking

For Learners: Getting Your Progress Tracked
Ensure your Pluralsight account uses the same email as your Learn Amp account
Access Pluralsight courses through Learn Amp when possible
Complete courses fully to record a completion activity
FAQs
How often does progress sync?
Progress syncs regularly throughout the day. There may be a short delay between completing a course in Pluralsight and seeing it reflected in Learn Amp.
I completed a course but it's not showing in Learn Amp. Why?
The most common cause is mismatched email addresses. Check that your Pluralsight account email exactly matches your Learn Amp email.
Can I manually mark a Pluralsight course as complete?
Administrators can manually record completions if needed, but automatic syncing is recommended for accurate tracking.
Do partial completions sync?
Learn Amp records a "started" activity when any progress is made. Full completion tracking requires the learner to finish 100% of the course in Pluralsight.
What if a learner changes their email address?
Future activities will sync correctly once the emails match. Historical activities from before the email change won't be retroactively linked.
Does watching the same course multiple times create multiple completions?
No. Learn Amp records one completion per user per course. Rewatching a completed course won't create duplicate activities.
Can managers see their team's Pluralsight progress?
Yes. Pluralsight activities appear in standard Learn Amp reports and on user profiles, just like any other learning activity.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Progress not syncing for a specific user | Verify the user's email matches exactly between Learn Amp and Pluralsight. Case differences are usually fine, but any other variation will prevent syncing. |
No activities showing for any users | Check the Pluralsight integration is active in Settings → Integrations. The API connection may have been disrupted. |
Completion date looks wrong | Completion dates reflect when the activity occurred in Pluralsight, not when it synced. This is by design for accurate reporting. |
"Started" showing but not "Completed" | The learner may not have finished 100% of the course in Pluralsight. Check their progress on the Pluralsight platform. |
Activities appearing for courses not in library | This shouldn't happen – only imported courses are tracked. If you see unexpected activities, contact Learn Amp support. |
Historical completions not appearing | The integration syncs activities from when it was first enabled. Completions before the integration was set up won't be imported. |
