Task Audit Trail
Overview
The Task Audit Trail provides a detailed history of changes made to individual tasks and their assignments. While the main Audit Log captures high-level task events, the Task Audit Trail offers granular visibility into the complete lifecycle of each task—from creation through completion or deletion.
This is particularly useful for:
Investigating task assignment issues
Understanding how dynamic tasks evolve over time
Tracking deadline changes and their reasons
Auditing compliance-related task completions
Pre-requisites
Role Requirements
Access to the Task Audit Trail requires:
Owner – Full access

Dynamic Task Events
For tasks with dynamic assignment rules, additional events are tracked:

Dynamic reimplementation move – When task hierarchy changes due to rule updates
Dynamic delete – When a task is removed because the user no longer matches assignment criteria

Each audit entry includes:
Timestamp – Precise time of the event

FAQs
Q: What's the difference between the Audit Log and Task Audit Trail?
The main Audit Log shows task events alongside all other platform changes. The Task Audit Trail is focused exclusively on a single task's history, with more detailed event tracking specific to task behaviour.
Q: Can I see who completed a task on behalf of someone else?
Yes. When an Admin marks a task as complete for a user, this appears in both the main Audit Log and the Task Audit Trail with full attribution.
Q: Why do some tasks show "Spawned" events?
Tasks with dynamic assignment rules automatically create new task instances when users join teams or match criteria. Each spawn is logged for full traceability.
Q: How long is Task Audit Trail data retained?
Task audit data follows the same 18-month retention policy as the main Audit Log.
Q: Can I export Task Audit Trail data?
Direct export is not currently available. Contact Support if you require audit data for compliance purposes.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Cannot see Audit Trail option | Verify you have Admin or Owner permissions |
Task history seems incomplete | Check that events occurred within the 18-month retention window |
"Spawned" tasks appearing unexpectedly | Review the parent task's dynamic assignment rules |
Cannot find a deleted task | Use the Task Log filters to include deleted tasks in your search |
