Volt

Volt

Overview

Volt is Learn Amp's AI assistant, built directly into your platform to help you work more efficiently — whether you're answering team questions, creating learning content, or searching for resources. Volt lives in the sidebar and is available to Admins and Owners across your platform.

Volt brings together several capabilities, some of which are now fully live for all customers, and others that are currently in Open Beta. This article walks you through what's available, how to enable it, and how to get the most from Volt.

To enable Volt, an Admin or Owner must switch it on from Company Settings → AI Features. From there, you can also enable or disable individual agents to suit your organisation's needs.

How Volt Works

When you interact with Volt:

  1. Your question is sent securely to our AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic)

  2. Volt analyses your query alongside relevant context from your Learn Amp instance

  3. A response is generated based on your permissions and available content

  4. The response is returned to you—your data is never stored by AI providers

Volt respects all existing platform permissions. You'll only receive suggestions for content you have access to.

Data Privacy and Security

Volt is built with security principles and the EU AI Act in mind. Key protections include:

  • No model training – Your data is never used to train AI models

  • Zero data retention – AI providers immediately destroy data after processing

  • Customer isolation – Your prompts and responses are never accessible to other customers

  • Permission-aware – Volt only accesses content you have permission to view

  • Audit trails – All AI interactions are logged for transparency and compliance

  • Opt-in by default – AI features must be explicitly enabled by your organisation

We retain interaction logs for 365 days for safety and security purposes.

FAQs

Q: Who can use Volt?
Volt is available to Admins and Owners. Learners and Managers do not currently have access.

Q: Can Volt raise support tickets?
Yes. The Support Ticket Assistant allows Admins and Owners to raise a support ticket with the Learn Amp team directly from a Volt conversation. The conversation transcript is attached automatically, giving the support team everything they need to help you quickly.

Q: What's the difference between GA features and Open Beta features?
Generally Available (GA) features are fully live and supported for all customers. Open Beta features are available to all customers but may still be evolving — we welcome feedback as we continue to develop them.

Q: Can I choose which agents are active for my organisation?
Yes. From Company Settings → AI Features, you can toggle individual agents on or off. This lets you control which capabilities are available to your admin team.

Q: Does Volt need access to our content library?
For Content Search and other AI features that draw on your learning content, yes — you'll need to trigger a content index from the AI Features settings page. This allows Volt to understand and search your content.

Q: Is my data secure?
Yes. Learn Amp takes data privacy seriously. See the Security, Privacy and Transparency article for full details.

Q: Can Volt access content I don't have permission to view?
No. Volt respects all platform permissions and will only show you content you're authorised to access.

Q: Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We have agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic that explicitly prohibit them from using customer data for training. Additionally, we maintain Zero Data Retention agreements.

Q: Can other customers see my prompts or responses?
No. Your data is completely isolated and never shared between customers.

Q: What happens if Volt gives an incorrect answer?
Due to the nature of language models, Volt may occasionally produce inaccurate responses. We recommend reviewing all responses before acting on them. You can provide feedback using the thumbs up/down buttons beneath each response to help us improve.

Q: Can I customise how Volt responds?
Customisation options are on our roadmap, including adjusting tone, communication style, and support levels.

Q: Which AI models does Volt use?
Volt is powered by models from OpenAI (GPT series) and Anthropic (Claude series). Our architecture allows us to switch between models as technology evolves.

Q: How do I give feedback on Volt's responses?
After Volt responds, click the thumbs up or thumbs down button beneath the message. You can optionally add a comment explaining your feedback. This helps us continuously improve Volt.
