Volt
Overview
Volt is Learn Amp's AI-powered assistant, designed to help users get more from the platform through natural conversation. Whether you need help finding content, creating learning materials, preparing for one-to-ones, or navigating features, Volt provides contextual, personalised support.
Built with security and privacy at its core, Volt uses large language models from OpenAI and Anthropic to understand your questions and provide relevant answers. Your data is never used to train AI models, and strict agreements ensure complete privacy.
Functionality Breakdown
Volt operates as a conversational AI assistant accessible from the top navigation bar within Learn Amp. It understands your current context—what page you're viewing, who you are, and your role—to provide relevant, personalised responses.
Core Capabilities
Volt can help with:
Content Discovery – Find learning materials based on skills, competencies, or career goals
Content Creation – Generate Learnlists, quizzes, items, and exercises from your existing content
Content Editing – Update and modify existing Learnlists and quizzes using natural language
Platform Guidance – Get step-by-step help with Learn Amp features and navigation
One-to-One Coaching – Prepare for and respond to team member submissions
Contextual Assistance – Ask questions related to whatever you're currently viewing
How Volt Works
When you interact with Volt:
Your question is sent securely to our AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic)
Volt analyses your query alongside relevant context from your Learn Amp instance
A response is generated based on your permissions and available content
The response is returned to you—your data is never stored by AI providers
Volt respects all existing platform permissions. You'll only receive suggestions for content you have access to.

FAQs
Q: Is Volt enabled by default?
No. AI features are disabled by default. Your organisation must explicitly enable Volt in the Beta Features section before it becomes available.
Q: Who can access Volt during the beta?
Only Owners and Admins. Other roles—including Managers, Learning Designers, Curators, and Learners—cannot access Volt during the beta period.
Q: Can Volt access content I don't have permission to view?
No. Volt respects all platform permissions and will only show you content you're authorised to access.
Q: Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We have agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic that explicitly prohibit them from using customer data for training. Additionally, we maintain Zero Data Retention agreements.
Q: Can other customers see my prompts or responses?
No. Your data is completely isolated and never shared between customers.
Q: What happens if Volt gives an incorrect answer?
Due to the nature of language models, Volt may occasionally produce inaccurate responses. We recommend reviewing all responses before acting on them. You can provide feedback using the thumbs up/down buttons beneath each response to help us improve.
Q: Can I customise how Volt responds?
Customisation options are on our roadmap, including adjusting tone, communication style, and support levels.
Q: Which AI models does Volt use?
Volt is powered by models from OpenAI (GPT series) and Anthropic (Claude series). Our architecture allows us to switch between models as technology evolves.
Q: Can Volt raise support tickets on my behalf?
No. While Volt can provide extensive guidance about the Learn Amp platform, it cannot currently raise support tickets.
Q: How do I give feedback on Volt's responses?
After Volt responds, click the thumbs up or thumbs down button beneath the message. You can optionally add a comment explaining your feedback. This helps us continuously improve Volt.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Volt sidebar not appearing | Ensure the beta feature is enabled in Settings > Beta Features and you have an Owner or Admin role. |
Volt doesn't understand my question | Try being more specific. Include details about what you're trying to achieve. |
Responses seem irrelevant | Volt works best when your content has clear titles, descriptions, and (for videos) transcripts. |
Can't find content I know exists | Check that the content is published and you have permission to view it. |
Volt is slow to respond | Complex queries or large content searches may take longer. Try breaking your question into smaller parts. |
Created content is missing | Content created by Volt is hidden by default. Check your drafts or hidden items. |
