Viewing Exercise Logs

Viewing Exercise Logs

Overview

Exercise Logs allow learners to view their complete submission history for all exercises they've completed. This provides a centralised view of past submissions, scores, feedback, and multiple attempts, helping learners track their progress and review their work over time.

Exercise logs are particularly useful for reflecting on past submissions, understanding feedback patterns, and seeing how performance has improved across multiple attempts.

⚠️ Note on deleted submissions: If an Admin or Owner has deleted an exercise submission, it will no longer appear anywhere in the exercise logs. Deletion is permanent. If a submission you expect to see is not appearing, check the audit trail to confirm whether it has been deleted. See Deleting an Exercise Submission for more information.

Functionality Breakdown

Exercise logs display a comprehensive history of all exercise submissions, including:

  • Exercise and item details — which exercise was submitted and what content or action it relates to

  • Submission dates — when each submission was made

  • Submission content — notes, attachments, and recordings submitted

  • Scores and status — pass/fail status, numerical scores (if applicable), and scoring status

  • Feedback and comments — comments left by reviewers or assessors

  • Multiple attempts — all attempts for exercises that allow retries, with expandable attempt history

  • Status indicators — visual indicators showing whether submissions are pending, passed, or failed

Viewing Your Own Exercise Log

Your personal exercise log shows all exercises you've submitted, organised chronologically. You can:

  • View your latest submission for each exercise

  • Expand to see all attempts for exercises with multiple submissions

  • Filter submissions by various criteria

  • Sort submissions by date, exercise name, or status

  • View detailed feedback and scores for each submission

Filtering Exercise Logs

Exercise logs support several filtering options to help you find specific submissions:

  • Attachments — filter to show only submissions with file attachments

  • Notes — filter to show only submissions with written notes

  • Comments — filter to show only submissions that have received comments

  • Date submitted — filter by date range to find submissions within a specific timeframe

  • Date commented — filter by when comments were added

  • Attachment types — filter by specific file types if attachments are present

Tip: Use filters to quickly find submissions you're looking for, especially when you have many exercise submissions over time.

Pre-requisites

To view your exercise log, you must:

  • Have submitted at least one exercise

  • Have access to your user profile or the exercises area

Required User Roles

All users can view their own exercise logs. The visibility of exercise logs depends on:

  • Learners — can view their own exercise submission history

  • Managers — can view exercise logs for their team members (if viewing from team member profiles)

  • Admins and Owners — can view exercise logs for any user in their company

Understanding Exercise Log Information

Submission Status

Your exercise log shows the status of each submission:

  • Pending — submission is waiting to be scored or reviewed

  • Passed — submission has been scored and meets the pass requirements

  • Failed — submission has been scored but doesn't meet the pass requirements

  • Not Applicable — exercise doesn't require scoring (No Assessment type)

Note: With unlimited attempts enabled, submissions may not show as "Failed" even if they score below the pass mark, as you can always retry.

Scores and Feedback

When exercises use scoring rubrics or simple scoring:

  • Total Score — your overall score for the submission

  • Score Breakdown — points received for each topic area (if using scoring rubrics)

  • Quality Levels — which quality level you achieved for each criterion

  • Comments — feedback from reviewers explaining scores or providing guidance

Tip: Review feedback and score breakdowns to understand how you can improve in future attempts.

Multiple Attempts

For exercises that allow multiple attempts:

  • Your log shows the most recent attempt by default

  • You can expand to see all previous attempts

  • Each attempt is numbered (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)

  • Historical attempts remain visible for reference and learning

FAQs

Q: Can I see exercises I haven't submitted yet?

A: No. Exercise logs only show exercises you've already submitted. To see exercises assigned to you, check your tasks or the exercises area.

Q: How long are exercise submissions kept in my log?

A: Exercise submissions remain in your log indefinitely. They're preserved for historical reference and learning purposes.

Q: Can I download my exercise submissions?

A: Individual submissions can be viewed and reviewed, but bulk downloads are typically available to admins through the exercise management area.

Q: What happens to my exercise log if an exercise is archived?

A: Your submissions remain visible in your log even if the exercise is archived. Historical data is preserved.

Q: Can I see expired attempts in my exercise log?

A: Yes. Expired attempts (from recurring tasks) remain visible in your exercise log for reference, though they can no longer be scored.

Q: Why can't I see scores for some exercises?

A: Scores are only visible if the exercise uses scoring and the "Show Scoring to Learners" option is enabled. Some exercises may use pass/fail without showing numerical scores.

Q: Can I filter by exercise name or item?

A: Filtering options may vary, but you can typically sort by exercise name to find specific exercises quickly.

Troubleshooting

Issue

Solution

Issue

Solution

Can't find my exercise log

Navigate to your profile or look for "My Exercises" in the sidebar navigation. Check with your admin if you're unsure where to find it.

Missing submissions

Ensure you've actually submitted the exercise. Check that you're viewing the correct user's log if viewing from a profile.

Can't see scores

Verify the exercise uses scoring and that "Show Scoring to Learners" is enabled. Scores only appear after submissions have been scored.

Can't expand multiple attempts

Check if the exercise allows multiple attempts. Some exercises may be limited to a single attempt.

Filters not working

Clear all filters and try again. Ensure you're applying the correct filter criteria for the data you're looking for.

Expired attempts showing

This is expected. Expired attempts remain visible in your log for historical reference, even though they can't be scored again.
