Tagging Content with Skills
Overview
Tagging content with skills is the foundation of personalised learning recommendations in Learn Amp. When you associate skills with learning content—whether items, events, or learnlists—you create meaningful connections that help learners discover relevant material based on their development interests.
By consistently tagging content, you ensure that when learners add skills to their profile, they automatically see recommended content to help them grow.

Avoid tagging with tangentially related skills
Consider Level Appropriateness
Introductory content suits lower skill levels
Advanced techniques suit higher skill levels
Match content complexity to learner readiness
Maintain Consistency
Use the same skills across similar content
Follow organisational conventions for skill naming

FAQs
Q: How do skill tags affect recommendations?
When a learner adds a skill to their profile, content tagged with that skill appears in their recommendations. The system may also consider skill levels to show appropriately challenging content.
Q: Can I tag content with multiple skills?
Yes! Content often develops multiple skills. Tag all relevant skills, but focus on primary skills the content addresses.
Q: What if I don't set a skill level on content?
The content will still appear in recommendations for users with that skill. Skill levels provide additional filtering for organisations that use level-based recommendations.
Q: How do I know which skills to tag?
Consider: "What will someone learn or improve by completing this content?" Those are your skills. Review the content objectives or learning outcomes for guidance.
Q: Can learners see which skills are tagged on content?
Yes. Skills appear on content cards and detail pages, helping learners understand what they'll develop.
Q: Does tagging affect search results?
Skills can influence how content appears in search and browse experiences, making tagged content more discoverable.
