Personal Development Pathway
Overview
The Personal Development Pathway is your dedicated space for tracking everything you need to complete. It sits at the top of your Homepage, bringing together all your time-sensitive learning activities in one clear, prioritised view.
Think of it as your learning to-do list—always visible, always up-to-date, and designed to help you stay on top of your development journey.
Functionality Breakdown
What the Personal Development Pathway Contains
The Personal Development Pathway aggregates all time-based items and Tasks assigned to you, including:
Content Type | Description |
|---|---|
Stand-alone Items | Individual learning content set as Tasks |
Learnlists | Collections of learning content set as Tasks |
Channel Tasks | Channels that appear in the Assigned Pathways section |
Events | Sessions you've enrolled in that are upcoming |
1-to-1 Meetings | Scheduled conversations with your manager or team members |
Assessments | Quizzes, tests, or evaluations set as Tasks |
Surveys | Feedback requests with assigned deadlines |
How Items Are Sorted
The Personal Development Pathway uses smart sorting to help you focus on what's most important:
Mandatory Tasks first – Any Task marked as mandatory always appears at the top
Then by deadline – Remaining items sorted by due date, with the soonest first
Due Date Indicators
Each item displays its due date in the bottom right corner with clear visual cues:
Text Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
Black | Task is on time – deadline is in the future |
Red | Task is overdue – deadline has passed |
⚠️ Warning: Overdue tasks remain visible until completed. Regular check-ins help ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
Task Types
Tasks fall into two categories that affect their display priority:
Type | Behaviour |
|---|---|
Standard Task | Normal priority, sorted by deadline |
Mandatory Task | Always appears first, regardless of deadline |
Once a Task is completed, it automatically disappears from the Personal Development Pathway.

FAQs
Why is my Personal Development Pathway empty?
Your Pathway only shows content with deadlines or scheduled dates. If it's empty, you have no outstanding Tasks, upcoming Events, scheduled 1-to-1s, or assigned Surveys.
Can I add items to my own Personal Development Pathway?
You cannot directly add items to your Pathway, but you can:
Enrol in Events (which adds them automatically)
Ask your manager to assign Tasks to you
Bookmark content for quick access (appears elsewhere on the Dashboard)
What's the difference between a Task and a Mandatory Task?
Both have deadlines, but Mandatory Tasks always appear first in the list, regardless of due date. They signal that this learning is essential and should be prioritised.
Do completed items stay visible anywhere?
Yes! Navigate to My Tasks to see your task history, including completion dates. This provides a record of your learning achievements.
Why can I see some of my team members' tasks?
Managers can view the Personal Development Pathway content for their direct reports. This helps with coaching conversations and ensuring team members stay on track.
What happens to overdue tasks?
Overdue tasks remain visible (shown in red) until completed. They continue to appear at the top of your Pathway as a reminder.
Why don't my Events show in the Pathway?
Check that the To Do List widget is configured to include Events. Also verify you're enrolled in the Event and the session date is in the future.
