Assigned Pathways and Channels on the Homepage

Assigned Pathways and Channels on the Homepage

Overview

The Homepage organises learning content into two distinct sections: Assigned Pathways for required learning with deadlines, and Channels for You for discoverable content. Understanding how these sections work helps you design an effective Homepage experience that guides learners towards their goals.

Assigned Pathways Section

This section appears at the top of the Homepage with a white background. It contains:

  • Personal Development Pathway – A consolidated view of all time-sensitive items and Tasks

  • Channels set as Tasks – Learning Channels assigned with deadlines

πŸ’‘ Tip: This section only appears when you've set Tasks for people to complete. If no Tasks are assigned, users will only see the Channels for You section.

How Channels Are Sorted in Assigned Pathways

Channels appear in priority order:

  1. Mandatory Tasks – Always appear first, regardless of deadline

  2. Deadline order – Remaining Channels sorted by due date (soonest first)

When a Channel Task is Completed

Once a user completes a Channel Task, it automatically moves from the Assigned Channels widget to the Visible Channels widget (if the Channel has visibility settings that include that user).

Channels for You Section

This section displays Channels made visible to users without requiring a Task assignment. It's ideal for:

  • Company announcements and updates

  • Role-specific learning resources

  • General reference materials

  • Optional learning pathways

Shared with You Channel

When individual Items are shared directly with a user, they appear in a special "Shared with You" Channel at the top of this section.

Dismissing Shared Items
Users can dismiss shared Items by clicking the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the Item tile. Once dismissed, the Item won't reappear unless shared again.

FAQs

Why can't I see the Assigned Pathways section on my Homepage?
The Assigned Pathways section only appears when Tasks have been set for you. If you don't see this section, you currently have no outstanding learning Tasks assigned.

Can a Channel appear in both sections?
Yes, if you configure the Visible Channels widget to "Show tasked content", Channels that are both visible and set as Tasks will appear in both sections. By default, tasked Channels only appear in Assigned Pathways.

What happens when I complete a Channel Task?
The Channel moves from Assigned Pathways to Channels for You (if you have visibility access). If the Channel isn't visible to you, it simply disappears from your Homepage.

How do I control the order Channels appear in?
Use the Reorder function under Manage β†’ Learning Content β†’ Channels. Drag Channels into your preferred order.

What happens when I dismiss a shared Item?
The Item is removed from your "Shared with You" Channel and won't reappear. If someone shares the same Item with you again, it will reappear.
