Item Types

FAQs
Q: Which Item type should I use for YouTube videos?
Use a Weblink Item if you want learners to watch the video on YouTube. If you need the video embedded directly in Learn Amp with more control over the viewing experience, use a Page Builder Item and embed the video code.
Q: Can I change an Item's type after creating it?
No, the Item type is set at creation. If you need a different type, create a new Item and archive or delete the original.
Q: What's the difference between Page Builder and File for documents?
File Items allow learners to download and view documents externally. Page Builder displays content directly in Learn Amp without downloading—useful when you want to control the viewing experience or add interactive elements.
Q: When should I use Action Items?
Use Action Items for any learning activity that happens outside the platform—attending conferences, shadowing colleagues, completing practical tasks, or having mentoring conversations.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Not sure which type to choose | Consider whether the content is hosted externally (Weblink), needs download (File), requires tracking (E-learning), or is custom (Page Builder). |
E-learning not tracking | Ensure you're using a supported standard (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, AICC, CMI5). |
Video won't play in Page Builder | Check the embed code is correct and the source allows embedding. |
File won't open | Verify the file type is supported and not on the blocked list. |
