Adding a Header Image to a Quiz Question

Learn how to enhance your quizzes by adding header images to individual quiz questions.
Header images add a visual element to your quizzes — making them more engaging and helping learners differentiate between questions. This can be especially useful in longer quizzes or when visual context is helpful.

When creating or editing a quiz question, you have the option to upload a header image specific to that question.

Pre-requisites
Before you begin, make sure:
You have permission to create or edit quizzes.
Your image file is in a supported format (.jpg or .png).
The image size is appropriate — ideally landscape orientation and at least 800px wide.
Required Roles
To add header images to quiz questions, you need permission to edit quizzes. This is available to users with one of the following roles:
Curator
Learning Designer
Admin
Owner
Coaches can also add header images to quizzes they create, as they are automatically granted editor access. Additionally, any user who is explicitly assigned as an Editor of a specific quiz can add header images to questions in that quiz, regardless of their role.
Quick-Start Guide
Step 1: Open the Quiz in Editor View
In the sidebar navigation, go to Manage → Learning Content → Quizzes.
Click the quiz you want to edit.
In the top toolbar, click Editor View to open the inline quiz editor.
Step 2: Open a Question Block
On the editor canvas, click the question you want to add an image to in order to expand it, or add a new question by dragging a question type from the right-hand sidebar.
Step 3: Enable the Header Image Option
Within the expanded question block, tick the checkbox labelled 'Add a header image'.
Step 4: Upload Your Image
Click the Upload Image button and select your image file.
💡 Tip: Use images that are relevant, simple, and don't distract from the question content.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Click Save in the question types sidebar when you are done.
