Overview

The Messaging feature in Learn Amp provides a built-in communication tool for users to connect with colleagues, managers, and support contacts directly within the platform. It offers a streamlined way to discuss learning, ask questions, and collaborate without leaving Learn Amp.


Functionality Breakdown

Messaging Modes

Your organisation can configure messaging in one of two modes:

  • Open Inbox – All users can search for and message any other user in the organisation

  • Support Inbox – Users can only message their manager and users with HR, Admin, or Owner roles

  • Quick messaging – Message directly from a user's profile or search for users

  • Conversation history – View all past messages in one place

  • Search – Find previous conversations and contacts

  • Attachments – Send files with messages (images, PDFs, audio, and video files can be previewed within Learn Amp)

  • Profile access – Click through to view the profile of the person you're messaging

Message Notifications

Users receive email notifications for new messages every 10 minutes (batched into a digest to avoid overwhelming inboxes). In-app notifications appear via the notification bell when you refresh or navigate within Learn Amp.

Quick Start Guide

Accessing Your Inbox

Option 1: Via the envelope icon

  1. Click the envelope icon in the navigation bar

  2. View your inbox and any unread messages

Option 2: From a user's profile

  1. Search for a user using the search bar in the sidebar

  2. On their profile, click Message in the left-hand panel

  3. Compose and send your message

Sending a Message

  1. Click the envelope icon or find a user's profile

  2. If starting a new conversation, search for the recipient

  3. Type your message in the compose field

  4. Optionally attach files by clicking the attachment icon

  5. Press Send

Attaching Files

  1. In the message compose area, click the attachment icon

  2. Select a file from your device

  3. Supported file types include images, PDFs, audio, and video files

  4. Send your message—recipients can preview supported files directly in Learn Amp


FAQs

Q: How quickly will I receive notification of new messages?
You'll receive email notifications for new messages every 10 minutes (batched into a digest to avoid overwhelming your inbox). In-app notifications appear when you refresh or navigate within Learn Amp.

Q: Is messaging real-time?
No. Messaging is not real-time—you'll see new messages when the page refreshes or when you perform an action that triggers a refresh.

Q: Can I message external users?
No. Messaging is only available between users within your Learn Amp organisation.

Q: Can I delete messages?
Individual message deletion is not currently supported. Contact Learn Amp support if you need assistance with message management.

Q: Why can't I message certain users?
If your organisation uses Support Inbox mode, you can only message your manager and users with HR, Admin, or Owner roles.

Can't find the message icon
