Notifications on Content Completion (Item, Event, or Quiz)
Overview
Learn Amp allows you to automatically notify relevant people when a user completes content — whether it's an Item, Event, Quiz, Learnlist, or other learning activity. This helps managers, coaches, and other stakeholders stay informed about learner progress without needing to manually check.
For Quizzes specifically, you can set up notifications for both successful completions and failed attempts, giving you more granular control over who gets notified and when.
Functionality Breakdown
When a learner completes content, Learn Amp can send a notification to:
Their manager
Their coach
Any specific individual you choose
Notifications are delivered in-platform and by email, ensuring nothing is missed.
Quiz-Specific Notifications
For Quizzes, you have additional notification options:
Notify on Completion – Send notifications when a learner passes the quiz
Notify on Failure – Send notifications when a learner fails the quiz (scores below the pass score)
These settings work alongside the general "Notify when completed" option, allowing you to:
Notify only on passes (useful for compliance tracking)
Notify only on failures (useful for identifying learners who need support)
Notify on both passes and failures (comprehensive tracking)
💡 Tip: Use "Notify on Failure" to quickly identify learners who may need additional support or retraining.
What the feature does
Automatically triggers a completion notification once the learner finishes the assigned content.
Allows you to define who should be notified at the point of creating or editing content.
For Quizzes, supports separate notifications for passes and failures.
Supports multiple notification types for Events (e.g., enrolments, cancellations, completions).
Pre-requisites
Before you start, ensure:
You have permission to create or edit content (Items, Quizzes, Events, etc.).
Managers or coaches are correctly set up in user profiles.
The individuals you want to notify have active user accounts.
Required Roles
You must have one of the following roles to configure notification settings:
Curator – Can curate and manage content
Learning Designer – Can create and manage learning content
Admin – Administrative access within their company
Owner – Full access within their company
Alternatively, you can configure notifications if you are:
Assigned as an editor of the specific content, or
The creator of the content (with some restrictions)
Note: If content is marked as "High Importance," only Owners can configure notification settings, even if you created it.
Quick Start Guide
Step 1: Add or Edit Content
Navigate to create or edit your content (Item, Quiz, Event, etc.).
Go to the Advanced Settings or Notifications section.
Step 2: Locate the Notify When Completed Section
Within the content settings, find the "Notify when completed" option.
Step 3: Choose Who to Notify
You can select:
Manager – Tick the box to automatically notify the user's manager.
Coach – Tick the box to automatically notify the user's coach.
A specific individual – Search for a user by name and select them.
💡 Tip: You don't need to manually enter a manager or coach — Learn Amp automatically recognises them from user profiles.
Step 4: Configure Quiz-Specific Notifications (Quizzes Only)
For Quizzes, you can also configure:
Notify on Completion – Tick to notify selected recipients when learners pass the quiz.
Notify on Failure – Tick to notify selected recipients when learners fail the quiz.
These work independently—you can enable one, both, or neither.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Once saved, your chosen recipients will receive notifications based on your settings.
Notifications for Events
Events come with a wider set of notification options. Depending on your setup, users may receive notifications for:
Event enrolments
Cancellations
Attendance confirmations
Event completion
These notifications are configured during Event setup and follow the same "notify" pattern as Items.
FAQs
Can I receive email notifications as well as in-platform notifications?
Yes. Both in-platform and email notifications are sent to all selected recipients.
Do I need to manually select a user's manager or coach?
No — Learn Amp automatically identifies them from the learner's profile once you tick the relevant box.
Can I notify more than one person?
Yes. You can notify a manager, a coach, and any number of specified individuals.
Do notification settings work the same for Quizzes, Events, and Learnlists?
Yes. The notification flow is consistent across all content types. However, Quizzes have additional options for notifying on passes vs failures.
What's the difference between "Notify when completed" and "Notify on Completion" for Quizzes?
"Notify when completed" is the general setting that sends notifications when any content is completed. "Notify on Completion" is quiz-specific and only triggers when a learner passes the quiz. "Notify on Failure" only triggers when a learner fails.
Can I set up notifications to only go out on quiz failures?
Yes. Enable "Notify on Failure" and disable "Notify on Completion". This is useful for identifying learners who need support.
Will I get notified if a learner retakes a quiz?
Yes. Each quiz attempt that results in a pass or fail (depending on your settings) will trigger notifications.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
The wrong person is being notified | Incorrect manager/coach listed in user profile | Update the user's profile details and save changes |
A user didn't receive an email notification | Email may be blocked or filtered | Review Email Delivery Log |
Notification didn't trigger | Content completion may not have registered | Confirm the learner has fully completed the content and refresh statuses |
Quiz notifications not working | Notification settings may not be enabled | Ensure "Notify on Completion" or "Notify on Failure" is enabled in quiz settings |
Getting notifications for both passes and failures | Both options may be enabled | Review quiz notification settings and disable the one you don't need |
