What different settings do Objectives offer
This article describes the difference between different options available when setting up Objectives.
This includes:
Objectives vs Key Results
Levels of Objectives
Public vs Private
Completion Type
Archive vs Delete
Align to another objective
Objectives vs Key Results
Objectives
An overall goal quantified in the objective creator
Can consist of numerous Key Results
Can have Key Results and other Objectives aligned to it
Key Results
Measurable results that must be completed for the overall Objective goal to be achieved
Part of an objective
Can be removed from or added to the Objective as its active
Not achieving it, will result in failing the Objective
Levels of Objective
Self-development: This will be an Objective that a person sets for themselves. For example, someone who wants to set themselves the task of being able to code in Javascript. Please note: All self-development Objectives are set to private and can only be viewed by the person who has set them.
Individual - pick particular users by writing their name in the search bar
Team/Group - choose groups of users by Team/Group name. When new users within the Team/Group are added - Objectives will be automatically assigned to them
Company - this Objective will be assigned for all the users within the system.
Private vs Public
Private
Objectives made private will not be visible to other users apart from the creator: Admin system role, Objective and Key Result owner
It’s preferred when the information within the Objective is confidential or it is preferred not to share it publicly
Public
Free text box within the 1-to-1 Template, where users can leave notes for themselves and other users.
Objectives made public will be visible to other all users on the platform
It’s preferred when the information within the Objective is public and it is preferred for the users to be able to view the Objective’s progress
Completion Type
Mark as complete
A user will manually have to mark the Key Result as complete.
This is useful in cases where the Objective is not quantifiable. For example, if the Key Result is to "Improve employee satisfaction" within the company.
Pass scoring
Set a value to be achieved for this Key Result
This is useful when the Objective is quantifiable.Â
Maintain value within a range
Set a range to be maintained for this Key Result
This is useful if you want to add a bit of scope and flexibility to your Key Result.Â
Marking as 100% if above/below the range means that the Key Result will be marked as 100% if the value is recorded as above the specified range (if you select upper) or if the value is recorded as below the specified range (if you select lower).

Align to another objective
Going to Assess Tab>Objectives>3dots>Align to another objective, you will have an option to connect progress made within one objective to another.
If you align two objectives, they will still remain two separate entries. However, if you complete the aligned objective - it will be marked as completing part of the objective you aligned it to.
