What is the Content log and how do I use it?
What is the Content Log?
The Content Log is centered around individual pieces of content.
It's a great way to see what content has been completed, and what content your learners are yet to start on.
You can filter by the types of content too, i.e. Learnlists, Channels, Items, Quizzes, and Events.
With Content Log, you can report on:
The piece of content.
How many people it has been assigned to - please see below for a definition.
How many people have completed it.
How many people have not completed it.
What is "Assigned" content?
Assigned content for Items, Learnlists, and Quizzes:
Assigned content for Items, Learnlists, and Quizzes are any that have been set as a Task for the user.
Assigned content for Events:
If a user has an Event "assigned", it means that they have been enrolled (whether by themselves, or by an admin) into an Event.
Assigned content for Surveys:
If a user has a Survey "assigned", it means that they have been sent a Survey on a Survey cycle that they must complete by a certain deadline.
Assigned content for Channels means:
Any Channels that have been set as a Task for a user.
Any Channels that have been set as Visible for a user on their Homepage Dashboard.
Please note that Channel assignment is slightly different in this way, to Items and Learnlists.
For more detailed information on Visible versus Assigned, please read our article here.

How does the Content log appear?
The Content Log focuses on Content first.
It gives a top-level view of all the Content in the platform and also informs you how many people the content has been assigned to, how many people have completed it, and how many haven't.
You can also expand down the rows to receive more detailed information about which users have or haven't completed the content.
What do managers see, when they look at the Content Log?
If a learner is a manager (i.e. they have direct reports), they will be able to see the Content Log.
However, it will filter down so that they can only see the individuals who directly report to them, as well as any sub-team members.
In this example, Jane Leydon is head of Marketing and therefore can see what content has been completed by all of her direct reports who are in the Marketing Team.
How can I use the Content Log?
The Content Log is a great way to look up particular pieces of content and see who has or hasn't completed it.
Especially when it comes to mandatory content (e.g. compliance training) which your learners must complete.
Using the Content Log, find out who is yet to complete it.
Let's look at an example from the Content Log now:
For the Item we can see below, "What are Compliance Best Practice Standards", we can see the following information from the Content Log:
This Item has been assigned (set as a Task) for 19 people.
Of those 19, 13 users successfully completed it.
Of those 19, 6 users have not yet completed it.
We can see from the progress bar that 68% of the people who have been assigned it, have completed it.
Let's say we then want to find out which people have completed it, and which haven't.
We can expand down to take a look.
By clicking on ‘Assigned’ we will see all users who have been assigned it and their status.
If we click on Completed, we see only the content that has been completed.
Similarly, if we click on Not completed then the report will filter to show only the users that have not completed this content.
How can I search through the Content Log?
You can refine by the type of content:
You can also use filters to help you narrow down:
