Switching to our new SFTP server on 3rd July 2023

Rationale

Recently we’ve moved legacy parts of infrastructure to the new production AWS so that these pieces of infrastructure could be managed by Terraform (IAC) which makes it possible to make these pieces be part of Disaster Recovery process (amongst other benefits).

However the SFTP server cannot be migrated away from without involving customers in the process. This comes from the fact that the server’s host key (SSH / RSA key) have changed.

What is required from customers

This is only required from customers that have SFTP sync process in place or if they have set up the import/export feature in Learn Amp.

1. SFTP URL that your company sync process is using must be changed:

Current URL is sftp.learnamp.com, you will need to change this to eu.sftp.learnamp.com

2. The fingerprint for the RSA key sent by the remote host must be accepted.

When connecting, you may be asked to validate the fingerprint, ensure the fingerprint for eu.sftp.learnamp.com matches this value:

SHA256:GZ3HHxAzm98oHZZkshz7OowlrQRxLX8k+2ap9ZqpP4Q

Optional: If you would like to add the host’s public SSH Key to the known_hosts file upfront, please use the following key:

eu.sftp.learnamp.com ssh-rsa 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

When will we need to switch?

  • Monday 3rd July 2023 eu.sftp.learnamp.com will be switched on and customers will be able to re-configure connections to point to this new host

  • Monday 4th September 2023 the sftp.learnamp.com will be turned off and customers will no longer be able to use the old host

What is a fingerprint?

The fingerprint helps your systems identify our SFTP host. Checking that the fingerprint matches ensures you are connecting to a valid host.

Between 3rd July 2023 and 4th September 2023, will we have any issues if not all of our systems are connecting to the new SFTP host?

No. During this period Learn Amp will read and write to both SFTP hosts, meaning you can gradually reconfigure your systems without worrying about ensuring you do it all at once. However, on 4th September 2023, we will be turning the old SFTP host off, which at this point any systems connected to this host will stop functioning correctly.
