LinkedIn Learning
Overview
The LinkedIn Learning integration connects your Learn Amp platform with LinkedIn's extensive library of professional development courses. Once enabled, learners can discover and access LinkedIn Learning content directly from Learn Amp, while all completion data flows back automatically for unified reporting.
This integration is ideal for organisations that want to offer LinkedIn Learning's catalogue alongside their own content, without managing separate platforms or losing visibility of learner progress.
Functionality Breakdown
The integration works through a secure API connection between Learn Amp and LinkedIn Learning:
Content Import – Courses from your LinkedIn Learning library appear as Items in Learn Amp. The system imports titles, descriptions, thumbnail images, and duration automatically.
Video Import (Optional) – By default, Learn Amp imports LinkedIn Learning courses. Admins can optionally enable video import to bring in individual tutorial videos as separate Items. Contact Learn Amp support to enable this feature.
Deep Linking – When a learner selects a LinkedIn Learning item, they're taken directly to the course on LinkedIn's platform via a seamless redirect.
Completion Sync – When learners complete content on LinkedIn Learning, their progress is automatically synced back to Learn Amp. This happens on a daily basis at 20:00 UTC.
Unified Reporting – All LinkedIn Learning completions appear in learners' Activity Logs and contribute to your platform's reporting metrics.
Known Limitations
Before setting up the integration, be aware of these considerations:
Limitation | Details |
|---|---|
LinkedIn Courses | LinkedIn "Courses" (collections of videos) are not searchable or visible within Learn Amp. However, if a user completes a course in LinkedIn, the completion activity will still be recorded. |
Content Language | The initial content import fetches English (US) locale content from LinkedIn Learning. Content in other languages may not be imported automatically. |
Email Matching | The email address on each user's Learn Amp account must match their LinkedIn Learning account exactly. Mismatched emails prevent content access and completion sync. |
Licensing | Each user needs an active LinkedIn Learning license to access content. Users without licenses can see items in Learn Amp but cannot launch them. |
Content Sync Timing | LinkedIn Learning syncs content to Learn Amp once daily at 20:00 UTC—not immediately. |
Editing Restrictions | While admins can edit LinkedIn Learning item titles and descriptions in Learn Amp, changes revert to LinkedIn's original values at the next daily sync. |
Pre-requisites

FAQs
Q: Does the user's email in Learn Amp need to match their LinkedIn Learning account?
Yes. The email addresses must match exactly. If they don't, the user won't be able to access LinkedIn Learning content from Learn Amp, and completion data won't sync.
Q: When does content sync from LinkedIn Learning to Learn Amp?
Content syncs once daily at 20:00 UTC. New courses won't appear immediately after being added to your LinkedIn Learning library.
Q: Can LinkedIn Learning items be edited in Learn Amp?
Yes, users with Manage Items permissions can edit titles and descriptions. However, these changes will revert to LinkedIn's original values at the next daily sync (20:00 UTC).
Q: Is LinkedIn Learning content completed within Learn Amp?
No. LinkedIn Learning items in Learn Amp contain only metadata (title, description, thumbnail). When a learner clicks to start the content, they're redirected to LinkedIn Learning to complete it there.
Q: What if a user accesses LinkedIn Learning directly, not through Learn Amp?
Completion data still syncs back to Learn Amp. Whether users launch content from Learn Amp or log into LinkedIn Learning directly, their completions are recorded in both systems.
Q: Do users need a LinkedIn Learning license to see content?
Users without licenses can see LinkedIn Learning items in Learn Amp, but they won't be able to access the actual content. You can use Learn Amp's dynamic grouping and content visibility features to hide items from unlicensed users.
Q: I completed a course but it's not showing in Learn Amp. What happened?
Don't worry—there's a daily sync between platforms. If it's been less than 24 hours, your completion will appear after the next sync at 20:00 UTC. If it's been longer, please contact support.
Q: Can I import individual videos instead of just courses?
Yes. By default, only courses are imported, but Learn Amp support can enable video import for your organisation. Once enabled, individual tutorial videos will appear as separate Items in your Library.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Content not appearing in Learn Amp | Verify the integration is enabled and wait for the daily sync (20:00 UTC). Check that Client ID and Secret are correctly configured. |
User can't access LinkedIn Learning content | Confirm the user has an active LinkedIn Learning license and their email matches in both systems. |
Completions not syncing | Check that the xAPI reporting integration is configured correctly in LinkedIn Learning admin. Ensure email addresses match. |
Deep link not working | Verify the user is logged into LinkedIn Learning. Check that the integration credentials haven't expired. |
Items showing old titles after editing | This is expected—LinkedIn Learning resets metadata at each daily sync. Edits are temporary. |
Non-English content missing | The initial import fetches English (US) content. Contact support if you need content in other languages. |
