Learnlist tile shows wrong number of items/total time
LearnLists in LearnAmp automatically calculate the estimated time for completion based on the durations of the included items. However, there may be times when the displayed total time is inaccurate or the number of items doesn’t update correctly. This guide provides steps to adjust and correct these discrepancies.
Understanding Time Estimates in LearnLists
Each LearnList consists of multiple items, each with its own estimated completion time. The total duration of the LearnList is determined by summing the estimated times of all included items.
Videos: Duration is automatically calculated based on video length but can be manually adjusted.
Documents (PDFs, Guides, etc.): Default estimated time is 5-10 minutes. This can be customized manually.
Interactive Content (Quizzes, Exercises, etc.): Estimated time is based on average completion data or manually set.
If you find the total time estimate to be inaccurate, follow the steps below to correct it.
Steps to Update and Correct LearnList Time Estimates
1. Manually Adjust Time for Individual Items
Navigate to the LearnList that needs adjustment.
Click the three-dot menu (ellipsis) next to each item.
Select Edit Item.
Locate the URL, type, & time.
Adjust the time manually based on actual completion expectations.
Save the changes.
2. Force Refresh the LearnList to Update Total Time
If the displayed total time doesn’t update after adjustments:
Add a new item temporarily to the LearnList.
Remove that item immediately after adding.
The LearnList tile will refresh and display the correct duration.
Alternatively, you can wait for the system to update automatically, which may take some time.
Best Practices for Maintaining Accuracy
Regularly review LearnLists to ensure all content has the correct estimated time.
Manually adjust estimates when adding new content, rather than relying solely on system defaults.
Use the refresh method (adding and removing an item) to quickly update any discrepancies.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your LearnLists display accurate estimated times and correct item counts, providing learners with a better understanding of their expected commitment.
