Learn the key definitions of all the features we have on our site.

We hope you'll find this list of key definitions useful!

Please note that some features are only available to users with certain permissions (e.g. curators, HR, admins, etc).

Activity log: The Activity log shows all the actions within the site e.g. adding, updating, editing of content, and more.

Assessment: An assessment is a Quiz, Exercise, or Survey that you can set for your learners. You'll be able to see full reporting on all the assessments that you set for your learners, so you can see how they perform.

Audit log: The Audit log tracks every single action within the site. The Audit Log exists for added security, so that admins can see what has happened if something goes awry.

Channel: A Channel can be a used as a development pathway or an ordered repository of mixed resources. Channels can be assigned via Tasks or made visible to users via their homepage either at a company, department, team or individual level.

Content log: The Content log shows you how much content each person has been assigned, and how much they've completed or not completed.

Dashboard: A Dashboard gives an overview of Item completion and highly rated content. Every user can see their own Dashboard, which will tell you information about how you've been using the system. Depending on your permissions (learner, curator, admin, etc.) you'll be able to see ‘Team’ and ‘Company’ Dashboards.

Groups: Groups are users who have been organised together by filtering different criteria. E.g. You could group together the Marketing and Sales team, or all people who attended Event X, or all people who have completed a specific training course.

Item: An Item is a piece of content that you can upload to the site. You can have different types of Item, such as a website link, an uploaded file (e.g., PDF, Word document, etc.), a custom Item, and a piece of e-learning content.

Learning Taxonomy: The Learning Taxonomy is a way to organise your content into Topics and Topic Categories around your internal language, to help learners to search for content (when enabled).

Learnlist: A Learnlist is an ordered list of mixed resources. Learnlists can be assigned via Tasks or made visible to users via their homepage either at a company, department, team or individual level. You can also add Learnlists to become part of a Channel.

Library: The Library is where you'll find all available content, all in one place. You can save Items by ‘bookmarking' them, and you can also use filters or the search bar to narrow down the variety of items to find the content you want. The Library consists of content created on your platform (Visible to Administrators in Manage Items. Manage Learnlists and Manage Channels) and shared via other libraries or parent platforms (Visible to Administrators in Manage Libraries).

Objective: Objectives are part of our OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework. In essence, they're used for setting goals for individuals, teams, and the company as a whole. For a more detailed explanation on OKRs, please read our full article

People log: The People log is a list containing all users from your company that are on the system. From here you can choose to do batch actions, e.g., adding people to a team, assigning a certificate, exporting the details to a CSV, and much more.

Scoring Rubric: A Scoring Rubric is a scoring guide used to evaluate the quality of an Exercise submission. You can pair Scoring Rubrics with an Exercise (e.g., a written, video or audio exercise) and use it as criteria to judge the quality of work.

Topic: A topic is a way to categorise related content, e.g. Leading People. Topics are organised into Topic Categories within the Learning Taxonomy.

Topic Category: A topic category is a way to organise Topics, e.g. Core Skills, Customer Service. Topic Categories and Topics are organised within the Learning Taxonomy.

Task: A Task is a piece of content (e.g., Item, Learnlist, Quiz, or Channel) that you assign to someone. You can select to assign a Task to individuals, teams, groups, or the whole company. You can also set a completion date for the Task. You can even set Tasks to recur at a chosen interval.

Teams: Users are organised into teams. Most often these reflect the teams normally found in company hierarchy (e.g., Finance Team, Marketing Team, etc.), but you can break them down further. You can also set a manager for each team.

1-to-1: A 1-to-1 is a designated meeting time to facilitate a conversation between a manager and an employee. Our system allows you to add agenda points, notes, actions related to the 1-to-1 for your learners. You can also set Surveys (for either or both the manager and learner) to complete. In addition, you can choose to have performance data, learning data, and assessment data visible on the 1-to-1 page.
