Content Log
Content Log
The Content Log provides a content-centric view of completion data across your organisation. It's the ideal tool for tracking who has completed specific pieces of content and identifying gaps in compliance or training coverage.
Overview
Unlike the People Log (which focuses on individual learners), the Content Log starts with the content itself. For each piece of content, you can see:
How many users it has been assigned to
How many have completed it
How many have not yet completed it
A progress percentage
This makes it perfect for answering questions like:
"Who hasn't completed their mandatory compliance training?"
"What percentage of the team has finished the onboarding Learnlist?"
"Which users are behind on their assigned Exercises?"
Functionality Breakdown
Content Types
The Content Log supports tracking across seven content types:
Content Type | Description |

Learnlists | Curated collections of Items with a defined learning path |
Channels | Dynamic content collections that update as new content is added |
Quizzes | Knowledge assessments with scored questions |
Events | Scheduled learning sessions (in-person or virtual) |
Surveys | Feedback and assessment forms |
Exercises | Activities requiring learner submissions (notes, file uploads, or recordings) |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What does "Assigned" mean in the Content Log?
A: The definition varies by content type:
Items, Learnlists, Quizzes: Set as a Task for the user
Events: User is enrolled in the event
Surveys: User has been sent the survey
Channels: Set as a Task OR visible on the user's Homepage Dashboard
Exercises: User has been assigned the Exercise (typically via the linked Item)
Q: Why might I use the Content Log instead of the People Log?
A: Use the Content Log when you're focused on specific content (e.g., checking compliance completion for a particular course). Use the People Log when you're focused on specific users (e.g., reviewing an individual's overall progress).
Q: Can I see partial progress for Learnlists and Channels?
A: Yes. Expand a Learnlist or Channel row to see completion status for each item within it.
Q: What are Exercises and why do they appear separately?
A: Exercises are activities attached to Items that require learner submissions—such as written notes, file uploads, or recorded responses. They appear as a separate content type because their completion criteria (submissions, sign-offs, scoring) differ from standard Item completion.
Q: Can I filter by multiple criteria at once?
A: Yes. Use the Filter panel to create multiple filter conditions. Combine them using AND (all conditions must be met) or OR (any condition can be met) logic for precise results.
Q: How do I include indirect reports when viewing Managed Users?
A: Enable the Include Sub-Managers checkbox. This will display completion data for users managed by your direct reports as well as your own direct reports.
Q: Can I save my filters for future use?
A: Absolutely. After applying your filters, click Actions > Save report. You can name the report and choose whether it's visible only to you or to everyone with appropriate permissions.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Content not appearing | Check that the content has been assigned to users. Unassigned content won't appear in completion reports. |
Counts seem incorrect | Click Actions > Refresh counts to update the data. Counts are cached for performance and may need refreshing. |
Cannot see expected users | Check your reporting scope and permissions. Managers can only see their direct/indirect reports. |
Exercises not showing | Ensure Exercises are enabled for your organisation and that the Exercise is linked to an Item. |
Filters not applying | Ensure all filter conditions are valid before clicking Apply. Check that the filter property matches your selected content type. |
Cannot save a report | Check that you have the appropriate permissions. Reporter, HR, Admin, and Owner roles can save reports. |
