Polls allow you to gather opinions, sentiments, or preferences from users in a quick and structured format. Within Learn Amp, Polls are created as a specific question type within the Survey builder. This makes them ideal for collecting feedback, making group decisions, or capturing sentiment across your team or organisation.

Polls are created using the Survey tool and are built around a grid format with row labels and column headings. Users select a response for each row based on the column options, making them well-suited for scaled or comparative feedback.

Pre-requisites

To create and share a Poll, you must:

  • Have Admin or Manager permissions (with Survey creation access)

  • Access the Survey builder via Manage → Learning Content → Surveys

Required User Roles

To create and configure a Survey, you must have one of the following roles:

Creating a Survey

  • Owner – Full access within their company

  • Admin – Administrative access within their company

  • Learning Designer – Can create and manage learning content

  • Curator – Can create Surveys if they have the "Issue Surveys" permission override enabled in their policy settings

  • Manager – Can create Surveys if:

    • Surveys are enabled for their company

    • Their manager permissions allow for Survey creation

Editing a Survey

To edit an existing Survey, you must:

  • Have one of the roles above, or

  • Be explicitly added as an editor via the "Who can edit?" field in Advanced Settings, or

  • Be the original creator of the Survey

If you've been granted edit permissions on a specific Survey, you'll automatically have edit access for all Surveys of that same type.


Quick Start Guide

Follow these steps to create a Poll:

  1. Create a Survey
    Navigate to Manage → Learning Content → Surveys in the sidebar navigation, then click + Add New and select Survey.

  2. Add a Poll Question
    Within the Survey, add a new question and select 'Poll' as the question type.

  3. Set Up Poll Options

    • Use column headings to define the range of responses (e.g. Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree).

    • Use row labels to list the items you want users to respond to.

  4. Add Weights (Optional)

    • Assign numerical values to each Poll option to enable scoring and deeper analysis.

    • Weighted answers can help quantify sentiment or preferences.

  5. Preview and Save
    Review how the Poll will appear to end users and save your changes.
