Anonymous Surveys
Overview
Anonymous Surveys allow you to collect honest, open feedback by removing all personally identifiable information from participant responses. This creates a safe space for users to share their views — without revealing who submitted the feedback.
Anonymous Surveys apply only to regular Surveys and ensure that:
Email addresses, IP addresses, and metadata are removed
Responses cannot be traced back to individuals
Participants are clearly informed that the Survey is anonymous
Functionality Breakdown
What makes a Survey anonymous?
When a Survey is set to anonymous:
All identifying information is stripped from responses, including email address, IP address, and metadata
Participants see a clear label confirming anonymity
Responses appear in reporting as "anonymous user"
Individual responses cannot be downloaded
The Survey does not appear in centralised reports (e.g. Activity log or Content log)
What remains identifiable?
The following Survey types cannot be made anonymous:
1-to-1 Surveys
Fill out about someone else
Learning Surveys
These formats will remain fully identifiable.
Irreversible once responses start
Once any responses are submitted, the anonymous setting becomes locked. You cannot revert the Survey to identifiable.
Pre-requisites
Before creating an anonymous Survey, ensure:

Participants will automatically see a message confirming anonymity
Once the Survey has any responses, you cannot uncheck this option.
FAQs
Can I make other Survey types anonymous?
No. Only Regular Surveys support anonymity.
Will admins be able to see who responded?
No. All identifying data is removed. Even if an Admin uses Log in as, the system prevents viewing individual anonymous responses.
How do anonymous responses appear in reports?
Responses are shown as "anonymous user" and cannot be downloaded individually.
Can I see which teams and locations people answered from when viewing anonymous Survey attempts?
No. Anonymous Surveys do not reveal any user details, including team membership and location. All identifying information is stripped to protect respondent anonymity.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
I can't find the option to make the Survey anonymous | Ensure you have selected a Regular Survey type — other types cannot be anonymised. |
I want to uncheck the anonymous setting but it's locked | Once any responses are submitted, anonymity cannot be reversed. |
Anonymous Survey is missing from central reports | This is expected — anonymous Surveys are excluded from centralised reporting to protect confidentiality. |
