How do I set anonymous Surveys?
Learn about how to set anonymous Surveys.
As of September 2020, we've recently introduced anonymous Surveys. This means that you can now set standard Surveys where the users who provide feedback will remain completely anonymous.
Anonymous details:
Email address, IP address, and all other identifiable data will be removed.
Users will see a message saying it's anonymous so that they feel they can give an open response.
Key details:Â
Anonymous Surveys are applicable to regular Surveys only (1-to-1, Fill out about someone else or Learning surveys will all remain identifiable).
Once Survey responses are received, the anonymous Checkbox can't be unchecked.Â
Reporting details on anonymous surveys:Â
In Survey reporting it will just say 'anonymous user'.
There will be no option to download individual responses.Â
The Survey will not show up in central reports, e.g., activity log, content log.Â
How to set up an anonymous Survey:
Step 1:Â Follow the normal route for creating a Survey
Â
Step 2: Select 'Regular' Survey Type and fill the details
Please note that only regular Surveys are eligible to be made anonymous.
Step 3: On the 'Recipients' stage, you will have the choice to make this Survey anonymous
Key details:
If you select the Survey to be anonymous, all personally identifiable information from answers including email address, IP address, meta data or any other piece of information that could be used to identify a participant will be hidden.
We will show a label to your participants to assure them that it is anonymous.Â
Once the Survey receives responses, this box cannot be unchecked (i.e. it cannot then be made not anonymous).

Logs:Â
On the 'Manage Surveys' page, anonymous Surveys will be clearly marked by an icon:
Reporting:Â
All answers will be anonymised, and each user will be shown as anonymous user.
What will Survey recipients see?Â
‘We would like to make clear as possible to those receiving the Survey that their answers will be completely anonymised.’
This is what they will see when they take an anonymous Survey:
'Logging in as' another Platform userÂ
Please note that if you are an Admin or Owner and have the ability to "log in as" another user, the system will be aware of this and it will not let you see an individual's anonymous Survey responses. So there is no way for another user to find out what another individual has answered (in an anonymous Survey).
