Overview

Objectives in Learn Amp help organisations implement OKRs (Objectives and Key Results)—a goal-setting framework that creates alignment and engagement across teams. With Objectives, you can break down company-wide ambitions into measurable, achievable steps at every level.

Whether you're tracking individual development goals or company-wide targets, Objectives provide a clear structure for setting, monitoring, and achieving meaningful outcomes.


Functionality Breakdown

Objectives work as a hierarchical goal-tracking system. Each Objective represents an overall goal, while Key Results are the measurable outcomes that must be completed for that goal to be achieved.

Key Results

Key Results define how success is measured. Each Key Result can be:

  • Marked as complete – Simple checkbox completion

  • Pass scoring – Hit a specific target value

  • Maintain value within range – Stay between minimum and maximum values

Alignment

Objectives can be aligned to create a hierarchy where progress cascades upward. Individual Objectives align to Team Objectives, which align to Company Objectives—ensuring everyone's work contributes to strategic goals.

  • The Perform package is enabled for your organisation

  • Users have appropriate role permissions

Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Access Objectives

Navigate to Assess → Objectives in the sidebar to reach the Objectives dashboard.

Step 2: Create an Objective

Select the + icon in the top navigation bar and choose Objective. See Creating an Objective for detailed guidance.

Step 3: Add Key Results

Define measurable outcomes that determine when the Objective is complete. See Tracking Progress on Objectives for more on Key Result types.

Step 4: Monitor Progress

Use the Objectives page to track progress, update status, and keep stakeholders informed. See Using the Objectives Page for navigation tips.

FAQs

Q: What's the difference between Objectives and Key Results?
Objectives are the goals you want to achieve. Key Results are the measurable outcomes that indicate whether you've achieved that goal.

Q: Can I have Objectives without Key Results?
Yes, but progress will need to be tracked manually. Key Results enable automatic progress calculation.

Q: How is progress calculated?
Progress is the average of all contributing Key Results and aligned child Objectives. Each contributing item has equal weight.

Q: Can I align individual goals to company strategy?
Yes. Use the Align feature to connect any Objective to a parent Objective, creating a hierarchy from individual goals up to company-wide strategy.

Q: Are Objectives visible to everyone?
It depends on the level and privacy settings. Self-development Objectives are private by default. Individual, Team, and Company Objectives are public by default but can be made private.
