How do I track progress on OKRs?

With Learn Amp you can easily keep track of Key Results and the Objectives they feed into. Learn how.

This article will explain how you can track progress within OKRs.

For a more detailed article on creating an OKR, please read the following article: https://support.learnamp.com/knowledge/what-is-an-objective-and-how-do-i-add-one

We will use an example OKR to show how 'tracking progress' works.

Our example Objective will be to win £250,000 of investment.

Step 1: Create Objective

  • Add the details for your Objective.

  • In this example, the Objective will be to 'Win £250,000 of investment'.

Step 2: Add Key Results

The four Key Results for this example will be:

1. Win £100,000 from angel investors.

2. Win £150,000 from seed funding.

3. Ensure all sales funnel data is up to date.

4. Have the finalised version of the product ready.

Setting a Key Result to 'contribute to Objective progress'

What does it mean for a Key Result to contribute to Objective progress?

  • This means that the status of the Key Result will have a bearing on the Objective progress %.

E.g. So if you have an Objective with 4 different Key Results, and all of them contribute to Objective progress, then each one will contribute 25% to the overall progress.

E.g. If you have an Objective with 10 different Key Results, and all of them contribute to Objective progress, then each one will contribute 10% to the overall progress.

As you can see in the image below, one of the Key Results has been marked as completed (100%), and so the progress of the Objective has been automatically updated to 25% complete.

There are four Key Results here:

1. Ensure all sales funnel data is up to date.

2. Have the finalised version of the product ready.

3. Win £100,000 from angel investors.

4. Win £150,000 from seed funding.

  • But only two of them (no. 3: Win £100k from angel investors and no. 4: Win £150k from seed funding) actually mathematically contribute to the Objective (Win £250,000 of investment).

  • Nonetheless, because each Key Result has been marked as "Contributing to Objective progress", each Key Result will contribute to 25% of the Objective progress.
