What is Q&A and how to use it?

What is Q&A?

Q&A (Questions and Answers) is a feature, that allows users to create a community and engage users by allowing them to ask questions about content and answer other people’s queries.

With Q&A, you can:

  • allow users to post public and private questions under content

  • decide who will be the best person to answer them

  • designate experts, responsible for answering the questions

You can access Q&A by opening the Channel, Learnlist, or Item and scrolling to the bottom of the page:

How do I create a Q&A section?

Firstly, in the Company Settings> Content> Discussion and Q&A, you have an option to either make the comments posted visible for all users or to give them an option to filter by Teams.

 

To enable Q&A, edit content (Channel, Learnlist, or Item) and find the appropriate section:

  • Allow public questions gives users an option to make their questions visible to other users

  • Allow private questions gives users an option to ask questions directly to the experts

  • With both options, you will receive private questions in the Who are the 'experts' who will answer questions? box.

There needs to be at least one expert picked for a Q&A to ensure a reply is provided.
Every time a question is posted, this user will receive email and in-site notifications.

  • If you tick Display experts?, all experts will be named above the Q&A box in content

  • Besides experts you can also allow other users to answer questions: user’s manager with: Allow Managers to answer people in their teams, user’s coach with Allow Coaches to answer people they coach, or all users with Anyone can reply to public questions

 

Once changes are saved, a Q&A box section will appear under content.


Users will then have an option to post a question, search through existing threads, and comment on other user’s questions (if Anyone can reply to public questions is ticked)

By clicking on the three dots in the right upper corner of a comment left, Admins will have options to Pin, Edit, or Delete users’ questions. They can also convert the question to FAQ, which will appear separately under the content.

How can I view Q&As?

You can view Q&A posted by specific users by going to their user profile>Posts>Q&A.

In Content>Manage>Filter: Q&A enabled and in Activity>Content Log>Filter: Q&A enabled you can view a list of Items, Learnlists, and Channels with this option enabled.
