Ad Hoc Skill Rating Requests
In addition to scheduled skill reminders & cycles, Learn Amp allows users to manually request skill rating updates from individuals. This is ideal for encouraging timely self-assessment—such as after a project, training session, or development conversation.

What does this feature do?
This feature lets you:
Request a skill rating update from a specific individual
Choose which skills you'd like them to review
Automatically send both an email and in-app notification prompting them to take action
Who can use it?
Role | Can request updates for… |
---|---|
🧑💼 Owner | Any user in the company |
🛠️ Admin | Any user in the company |
👥 HR | Any user in the company |
👨💼 Manager | Their direct reports and indirect reports |
📌 Note: Managers can only request ratings for users in their reporting structure. If you can’t see the option, check your team setup or speak to Learn Amp Support Via the Customer Portal.
⚙️ Quick-Start Guide: How to Request a Skill Rating
Go to the Individuals Page
From the main navigation, head to Individuals
Open a User Profile
Click into the profile of the person you want to send the request to
Request a Rating Update
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the user’s profile
Select “Request rating update”
Select Skills
A modal will open showing the user’s current skills
✅ Choose one or more skills you’d like the user to rate
You can search or scroll through the list to find the most relevant ones
Only skills already assigned to the user will be available to select
Confirm the Request
Click “Request update”
A confirmation modal will appear asking “Are you sure?”
Review your selections and message, then confirm to proceed
User is Notified
They receive an email and in-app notification
❓FAQs
Q: Can I request an update from someone who has no skills?
No — this option is only available for users who already have skills assigned.
Q: What happens when I send a request?
The selected user will receive:
An email with a link to rate their skills
An in-app notification with the same link
Q: I can’t see the “Request rating update” option — what should I do?
This could be because:
You do not have skills enabled.
You don’t have permission to request updates for that user
In either case, please speak with your Customer Success Manager for guidance.
Q: Can managers send requests to indirect reports?
Yes. Managers can send rating requests to their direct reports and anyone below them in the reporting line.
