What are Imports and how to use them?

What are Imports?

Imports tab allows you to transfer information in bulk from an external source to Learn Amp. You can easily upload a file with all the data you would like to see on Learn Amp and override existing entries on the platform. Within Import Tab, you can:

  • View previous imports

  • View imports templates

  • Import a new set of data

  • Delete changes made by previous imports

How do I use Imports?

You can access Imports by clicking on your profile icon>Company Settings>Imports

This page gives you a view of the following types of Imports with the following columns:

  • Items

  • Learnlists

  • Channels

  • Activity

  • Users

  • Teams

  • Skills

Each of those imports will differ in the information required in the CSV file.

You can view templates for each type of import by going to the appropriate Tab, selecting to star import and downloading the template out of the creator.

How to view imported data

To view data from the previous import, find it on the list of records displayed on the page and click 3 dots>View Imported Records.

How to delete the import records

To delete the record, find the Import on the list and click 3 dots>Delete.

Please note, this will not remove any records that may have been imported during processing.

Once uploaded to the system, these can only be changed by uploading a new import or by our Technical Support (chargeable request).

How to import records

To import a file, go to the Import Tab, that interests you and click the Start Import button.

It will open a 4 steps creator.

Step 1: Upload CSV

On this page, you can:

  • Download the CSV Template and use it to create your CSV file

  • Upload your CSV file with the data you want to be transferred to Learn Amp

  • View our top tips on data formatting and what different fields in the template mean

Step 2: Review

On the review page, under Columns with matches, you will see each entry from the CSV file and you will be able to assign it to a different Learn Amp Field.

Under the section: Columns without matches, you will be able to review each entry, that doesn’t have a corresponding Learn Amp field and choose to either ignore it (data won’t be transferred into the platform) or assign it to an existing Learn Amp Field.

Please note: Activity imports must happen at Item level, otherwise channel % completion won't calculate. E.g. you can't upload activity at Learnlist-level only, and expect channel % completion on Content/People logs to display accurately.

Step 3: Confirmation

In this step, you will get a sum-up of to-be-imported data.

It will contain information about correctly matched rows, that will be imported into the system and incorrectly matched rows (rows with error), that will be ignored.

You can review the errors, re-upload the file if necessary, or choose to Import the file.
