Creating 1-to-1s

Overview

Creating a 1-to-1 in Learn Amp involves two steps: first creating a template that defines the structure and content, then assigning it to recipients as either a one-off or recurring cycle.

This guide walks you through both steps to get your 1-to-1s up and running.


Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Create a 1-to-1 Template

  1. Navigate to My Development → 1-to-1s in the sidebar

  2. Click the Templates tab

  3. Click New Template

  4. Enter a name and optional description

  5. Choose whether to include Activity Data panels (objectives, tasks, learning activity, etc.)

  6. Add one or more Question Sets to structure the conversation

  7. Configure Visibility settings

  8. Click Save

Step 2: Assign the 1-to-1

  1. From your template, click Assign 1-to-1

  2. Choose assignment type:

    • One-off – Issues once, no recurrence

    • Cycle – Recurring at your chosen interval

  3. Select recipients (individuals, teams, or entire company)

  4. Set key dates:

    • First issue date – When the 1-to-1 is created

    • Reviewee complete by – Deadline for team member

    • Reviewer complete by – Deadline for manager

    • Share and finalise by – Final deadline

  5. Click Create


Pre-requisites

Before creating 1-to-1s, ensure:

  • You have the appropriate role (Manager, HR, Admin, or Owner)

  • Users have manager relationships configured (for automatic reviewer assignment)

  • You've considered what questions you want to include


FAQs

Q: Can I edit a template after creating it?
Yes—templates can be edited at any time. Changes apply to future 1-to-1s but don't affect already-issued ones.

Q: What happens if I don't add a question set?
The 1-to-1 will still work but won't have structured questions. It will rely on activity data panels, agenda points, and notes.

Q: Can I assign a 1-to-1 to myself?
Yes—you can include yourself as a recipient if needed.
